Tribulus terrestris is a Mediterranean plant widely found in cold and dry climates. It produces fruit (which is covered in spines) and the roots and leaves of the plant are used for making various medicines. Read more about the actual tribulus plant on their wikipedia page. Tribulus is the most recommended “natural testosterone” and that is what most people use when they are taking testosterone. It improves athletic performance, and many people talk about its ability to improve sexual issues.
Tribulus terrestris increases male testosterone levels by increasing the levels of luteinizing hormone, which in return helps the body produce excess testosterone. This happens because of androgenic effects in the body, caused when taking tribulus terrestris. The active ingredient that leads to the androgenic effects are steroidal saponins and steroidal glycosides. Protodioscin is a type of steroidal glycoside. A minimum of 10 percent protodioscin should be present in order for the tribulus to produce its effect.
Women ARE able to take Tribulus
Women can take tribulus in the form of supplement like men. It is suggested that women use tribulus for a short time (not always).
