10 Most Famous Dancers of All Time

189

The 10 most famous dancers of all time have to have that “it” factor. They have to have qualities that make them stand out from the rest of the dance world. Some of these qualities are their drive, their charisma, their talent, and their passion for dance. Most of the dancers that I picked are American but they are known worldwide. Some of these dancers started training early on and some started dancing later in life. They are or were very dedicated to the dance profession. The dancers that I picked are Gene Kelly, Savion Glover, Arthur Mitchell, Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Misty Copeland, Gelsey Kirkland, Wendy Whelan, and Debbie Allen. These are some of my favorite dancers in the world because they have a lasting star power.

2Savion Glover

Savion Glover was born November 19,1973 and is forty-two years old. He is an American tap dancer and choreographer. He is from Newark, New Jersey. Gregory Hines was one of Savion Glover’s tap teachers. Glover developed his own style of tap which he is most popular and it is funky and down into the earth. He taught tap since the age of fourteen. He is known for his very rhythmic tap style. He made his Broadway debut at the age of ten in the musical The Tap Dance Kid. One of the Broadway shows he is most known for is Bring in’ Da Noise, Bring in’ Da Funk, which he choreographed. I had the opportunity to see this Broadway hit and it is amazing. There is never a dull moment in the musical. A more recent work that he choreographed is Shuffle Along.
